Never Deny The Swedes

To recap some non-action from Olympic wagering action... Liam... Bitch... missed two opportunties to ride the Swedes to a victory. First, not taking the Swedish women's hockey team to defeat the Americans in a shoot-out in the semi-final of the tournament. He turned down that opportunity. Secondly he missed out on taking the Swedish men's hockey team in the gold medal game of the Torino Olympics... This reminds me of an important lesson... Never turn down the opportunity to align yourself with Swedish women. And secondly, if you deny the Swedish once, it will forever curse your luck with everything Swedish. My good friends Mini and Elin have volunteered to be defense exhibit T and defense exhibit A to illustrate why you should not deny the Swedish. Poor form Liam... Poor form.

"Flash in the pan"?!?!?!

Welcome Bitch!

Now, back to my rant. Flash in the pan? Flash in the pan? Seriously? Let's look at the numbers, shall we:

Zach Duke
6-2, 212
Clifton, Texas

In his 14 career starts:
-12 "Quality Starts"
-8 wins
-ERA of 1.81
-WHIP of 1.20
-58 strikeouts in 84 IP
-Gave up more than 3 runs exactly twice. TWICE.
-In his two losses, Duke gave up 3 runs in 10 innings.

In his home starts:
4-2, 1.79 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, 29 K's in 40.1 IP

In his road starts:
4-0, 1.83 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, 29 K's in 44.1 IP

In the "Big Hitting Carolina League" Duke's numbers were:

10-5, with a league low ERA of 1.39.

Then promoted to AAA, his numbers dipped to a staggering 12-3 in 16 starts, with an ERA of 2.92.

His Pro record is 43-17 for a winning .pct of .717!!!

"Flash in the pan"?!?!?! I guess only time will tell. But I certainly like his chances! And mine.

This Just In...

Zach Duke is a flash in the pan... lucky if he's in the league in 2 years.

Chacin is the man. It disgusts me that Liam could bet against a Canadian team other then the Maple Leafs... especially for the next 5 years.

The Newest 5-Year Bet

Well, here is the latest:

two promising left-handers, one Blue Jay relying on a funky delivery and nasty stuff vs. the younger, harder throwing boy out of Pittsburgh.

Most wins per season, for the next 5 years. Along the lines of Crosby-Ovechkin, this will be a bet that should be interesting every single year. Toronto, with the better team, has the edge this year, but who knows what those Pirates have in mind for the next 4. Only time will tell.

Here are their numbers from last year:

Dave's horse: Gustavo Chacin - 34 GAMES REC 13-9 ERA 3.72 WHIP 1.39

Liam's horse: Zach Duke - 14 GAMES REC 8-2 ERA 1.81 WHIP 1.20

The numbers speak for themselves, or do they?!?! Stay tuned for the trash talking!

ROOKIE SCORING RACE!!!

That guy is NOT my best friend, although I would be interested in finding out where he got those sweet threads! Talk about a fashion statement.

In the race for rookie bragging rights, Ovechkin has a 4 point lead, with 3 games in hand.

All things looking rosey for Dave in this one. But wait. Looking at their last ten games, Crosby has decided that the race for Bitch Bragging rights is not over. Over their last 10 games, here's how the our horses stack up:

Ovechkin: 3 goals, 6 assists fo 9 points
Crosby: 5 goals, 7 assists for 12 points

Maybe, just maybe, Crosby is taking notice of this little wager page, and has decided he wants a cut. Sure! Hey Crosby - you win this one, we can split the dollar 50/50!

Stay tuned for a down-to-the-wire finish from these two fantastic rookies!

Leafs Aren't Going To Make The Playoffs

Despite Liam's great synopsis of our bets, there's no way the Leafs will hang onto a playoff spot.

For the curious souls out there, here's Liam's "best friend" (probably explains why he likes the Leafs so much).

Current Wagers

As Liam tries to narrow the gap between Bitch vs. Bitch, here are the current standings and bets!

Ling is winning a tight race by a score of $5 to $3 (special thanks to the Steelers for my most recent winnings!). Ling looks good for Horton, Liam looks good for Allison and the Leafs (maybe, just maybe they can hold on). Ovechkin looks a lock to beat out Crosby this year, but stay tuned for years to come. Baseball bets should start to get more attention as spring training starts. Should be plenty of trash talking there!!!

Current and recent bets are as follows:

HOCKEY

Nathan Horton scores 30 goals (Ling has him doing it)

Allison scores 60 points (Liam has him achieving that mark)

Maple Leafs make the 2006 NHL playoffs (Ling says no way)

Liam takes Crosby, Ling takes Ovechkin, annual scoring (points) challenge

2006-07 season Nathan Horton scores more goals then Eric Staal (Liam has Staal)

FOOTBALL
Denver defends home field vs. Pittsburgh in this weekend's AFC Championship (Ling takes Denver) LIAM WINS!

Pittsburgh over Seattle in the XL Super Bowl (Liam takes Pittsburgh) LIAM WINS!

BASEBALL

Vernon Wells (Ling's bet) hits more homeruns then Troy Glaus (Liam)

Shea Hillenbrand (Ling) hits more homeruns then Lyle Overbay (Liam)

VW and Shea (Ling) combined hit more homeruns then Glaus and Overbay (Liam)

The Steele Curtain

And why should I be worried about Alexander's "Ninja Skills" exactly????

Bitch, I've got two words for you. Troy. Palumalu. This big-haired freak will make you wish you'd never muttered the words Seattle Seahawks.

Check the last time that your boy Alexander faced the Steele Curtain. I'm sure that 48 yards is respectable for some backs. He was SHUT DOWN!!!

Troy gets it done. Period.

You have no shot on this one bitch. This is the easiest buck I have ever made.
