Ling's Week III

Carolina at Tampa Bay, pick: Carolina
It's go-time for the Panthers and Bucs but whereas the Panthers will be re-energized by the return of Steve Smith the Bucs are teetering on QB disaster if Chris Simms can not find himself because behind Simms there is nobody except Jimmy the Ticket Usher.

Chicago at Minnesota, pick: Chicago
As the unofficial founder of the Rex Grossman fan club outside of the greater Chicago area I am now selectively allowing members to join. In Grossman I trust.

Cincinnati at Pittsburgh, pick: Cincinnati
After getting his bell rung last week Chad Johnson may still be asking "who dey?" But in the regular season, while Big Ben is still not 100% and the Steelers are coming off a short week, give me the Bengals.

Green Bay at Detroit, pick: Detroit
Liam refered to the shoddy play of Green Bay, now I'm going to be a lot more accurate, the play is actually downright shitty. Retire Favre before you ruin your HOF career.

Jacksonville at Indianapolis, pick: Indianapolis
Jacksonville had a fantastic game on Monday, however Sunday should be the letdown game after a short week, Indy takes care of business.

N.Y. Jets at Buffalo, pick: Buffalo
Time for a difference maker, Liam took the Jets because he has a man-crush on Chad Pennington. However, I will take the Bills D to shut down the Chad Pennington Renaissance Tour 2006.

Tennessee at Miami, pick: Miami
I refuse to pick a team who starts Kerry Collins at QB.

Washington at Houston, pick: Washington
C'mon, I couldn't pick Houston for fear that I might laugh to death. Poor Gary Kubiak might be forced to take snaps for the Texans after David Carr's career ends around week 9.

Former Cleveland Browns at Cleveland Browns, pick: Former Cleveland Browns
The originals are always better then sequals, its like a rule in Hollywood and for this year it extends to the ultimate in rivalry games in the NFL. The Cleveland Browns versus the former Cleveland Browns. I'm picking the former Cleveland Browns to win comfortably.

N.Y. Giants at Seattle, pick: Seattle
Seattle should handle the Giants who after 3000 miles will have a rough go of it against the NFC Champions. Hasselbeck and Alexander will not blow a 4th Quarter lead like the Eagles did last week for NYG. That is why the Eagles will not be a playoff team in 2006-07

Philadelphia at San Francisco, pick: Philadelphia
The Eagles may not be a playoff team in 2006-07 but the 49ers might not be a playoff team for 6 or 7 years. Philly squashes the 49ers, which will offer little consolation after shitting the bed last week.

St. Louis at Arizona, pick: Arizona
I don't foresee as much passing in this game as Liam does. Linehan is running the ball a lot with Stephen Jackson and the media in Arizona is all over Edge for his lack of productivity thus far this season. Sure, Arizona will end up airing it out in the second half but both teams will try and establish the run early. I like Arizona but only because they're at home.

Denver at New England, pick: New England
Never trust Jake Plummer. Always trust Tom Brady. Sometimes picking NFL games just comes down to simple logic.

MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL

Atlanta at New Orleans, pick: Atlanta
ATL with Mike Vick, Warrick Dunn, and Jerious Norwood will run all night long in the Super Dome. Maybe Reggie Bush can punch something into the end zone this week? Final score, ATL 33 to NO 14, although this week that won't need to be a tie-breaker.

My tactic is simple this week versus Liam, we only disagree on one game so Liam has put all his eggs into one basket with the New York Jets. Sure I am putting my eggs with the Buffalo Bills, but to this point they've been the better team. Winner of the Bills vs. Jets will determine the winner between Liam and Ling this week.

Season to date: 23-9.

Not sure if I should take that as a compliment or not. If I indeed made almost all the same picks as you, then I am very happy with my choices. If this is just a ploy to try and win by selecting one game that you felt could secure you the victory, then I am not so impressed.

Either way....GO JETS!!!!!!!!!!

No ploy, I'm playing with these picks in the Deadspin.com Pick 'em league (96th% out of 3000+ entries). I have explanations for all my picks here and on The Vortex
